The Beanie

Quietly technical. Built to be worn.

VISI beanie with detachable rechargeable light

Slim, slightly curved, matte black. Frosted lens with a soft white LED. USB-C rechargeable, one-button operation — designed to sit flush against your forehead.

How it clips on

A spring clip. A stitched sleeve. That's it.

The LED module sits on the outside of the beanie. A small spring-steel clip on its back slides into a reinforced fabric sleeve stitched across the front. The light stays flush, the clip grips tight, and you can pop it on or off in a second.

The Story

Thousands of people walk home in the dark every night. We just wanted them to be seen.

VISI started in a residence room at the University of Cape Town. Eight entrepreneurship students. One winter. One simple thought —

the people we passed every night on our walks home — the security guards on the corner, the car guards near campus, the domestic workers waiting for the early taxi — were the ones drivers couldn't see. So we built something they would actually want to wear.

Field Note · 06:14

The first taxi out of Khayelitsha leaves before sunrise. The last student walk home ends well after sunset.

Cold winters

We're not a tech company. We're eight students who wanted to make something real — something a friend, a parent, a stranger on a cold corner could actually put on and feel a little safer in.

Impact

Buy one. Give one.

For every VISI sold, an identical beanie goes to someone moving through Cape Town winters in low-light conditions. Same beanie. Same light. Same warmth.

Not charity. Dignity — wrapped in something they'd choose to wear anyway.

For you
A beanie you'd wear
regardless.
For them
The exact same one.
No compromise.
