Visi

Everyone deserves to be seen

A visibility brand for anyone who moves through the dark. It starts with something you already wear in a Cape Town winter, a beanie a driver's headlights catch long before they'd catch you.

The shared hour

05:00Cape Town, June.
Sunrise 07:51.

The dark doesn't ask what you earn.

Before the sun comes up, the same stretch of road carries people with almost nothing in common, except that the car coming round the bend hasn't picked any of them up yet.

Same headlights.

The product

It starts with the beanie.

We're not building a novelty beanie. We're building visibility you can wear. The first drop is a warm knit banded with retro-reflective branding, so a driver's headlights throw you back at them long before they'd otherwise see you. That's step one. Where we're headed is wearable lighting that doesn't wait for someone else's headlights at all.

What it is

  • Retro-reflective band, all the way round
  • The Visi mark, reflective, on the front
  • A warm knit for a Cape Town winter
  • One product, not sorted by income
  • Designed locally

Where we're going

  • Now Reflective. Passive visibility.
  • Next Integrated light. Its own glow.
  • The idea Wearable lighting for everyone

The reflective beanie is what's ready first. The lit version is in development. We're building it in the open.

Where we stand

One product. No budget version.

Right now, safety gear is sorted by income. The gear itself tells you what someone earns.

We didn't make a premium one and a cheap one. We made one, and we made it good enough for both. The person running for fun and the person walking home from a shift are doing the same thing in that moment: moving through the dark, hoping to be seen.
